- Product is live and you need continuous delivery
- Backlog is a stream of small features, billing edge cases, dependency updates
- You already trust the codebase and communication rhythm
My retainers often start around ₹90,000 / ~40 hours. Unused hours don’t become “infinite new epics” without a written priority list each month.
Hybrid that works for most SaaS
- Fixed-price Phase-1 → ship the core loop + billing/admin/staging
- Optional retainer → Phase-2 features after real users talk
This avoids buying a retainer before you know what users want — and avoids pretending Phase-1 is “done” when billing webhooks are unfinished.
